Cromatik 5 is a young band established in 2010. Members of the band met each other during their music studies in Austria and at the initiative of jazz guitarist Pavle Jovanović, saxophonist Grgur Savić and drummer Bojan Krhlanko formed a quartet with double bassist Zvonimir Šestak. From the first rehearsal, the band starts to compose their music, creating their own sound with roots in improvised music, avant-garde, groove music and rock music. Along with their own music they perform jazz of 60’s, including the originals of John Coltrane, Wayne Shorter, Joe Henderson, Charles Mingus in their own arrangements. After dozen concerts in Austria, Slovenia and Croatia quartet is expanded to quintet with a pianist Zvjezdan Ružić to add more variety in their sound.
After playing many festivals and all relevant jazz clubs in Croatia, Slovenia and Austria throughout 2011 and 2012 band decides to make a demo record made entirely of their own compositions.
In 2013 Zvjezdan Ružić was substituted with Hrvoje Galler on piano and band starts to prepare new material for their first recording, titled “Cromatik 5”, which has been released in summer 2014. Again, recorded material will be made entirely of original compositions written by Grgur Savić, Pavle Jovanović and Bojan Krhlanko.
