LEON

Created in 2010 in the form of a drone-noise duo, Leon can be taken as a polymorphic entity with multiple collaborations (Andrea Parkins, Christian Weber, Rodolphe Loubatière, Kasper Toeplitz and Antoine Läng) and directions (improvisation, electro, noise-free), centered around the original pair – the two Swiss bass players, Raphaël Ortis and Louis Schild – providing a solid musical identity. In this experimental continuity, LEON+, a variation enhanced with Antoine Làng’s voice and David Meier’s drumming – extend their exploratory fields in a complex architecture, a four voice intense dialogue at the border of math-rock and noise poetry, with precise and still abrasive compositions, furious, chaotic, at the risk of being dismembered by the energy released.

Antoine Läng

Antoine Läng’s (vocals + electronics) taste for hybridization and experimentation leads him to use electronic devices as a means of voice processing to extend its field. Initiated in rock, metal or jazz bands, this process is ongoing and increasingly directed toward experimental and improvised music, in regular projects (dQtç, VLL678, Atomic Paracelze) as well as occasional meetings. Fascinated by the plasticity of voice, his approach to the instrument extends to several registers – spoken, sung, noisy – and includes some unique vocal techniques combining lyrical sophistication and brute animality.

David Meier

David Meier (1985 in Escholzmatt, Switzerland) plays drums and composes music. Since 2005 he has been touring nationally and internationally with many different bands and projects. He might be best known for his work with groups like schnellertollermeier, Things to Sounds, his own quintet Hunter-Gatherer, and the international trios Aaargh! and Trio Riot.

David studied three years at the Swiss Jazz School in Bern with drum legends Billie Brooks and Pierre Favre before he went north studying in the Nordic Master program. During those two amazing years he spent time living in Helsinki (FIN), Stockholm (S), Arhus (DK) and Trondheim (N).

After that David spent one year living in Berlin. In fall 2012 he relocated to Zürich, Switzerland, and continues to work with a variety of musicians and bands across Europe.
