This music group was founded by modern music department in 2007. Benoit STASIACZYK, who took charge of the jazz major, was the conductor of this music group. It is the first formed music group of Xinghai Conservatory of Music.

It caught high attention from the university and society since its foundation in 2007 and it was invited to participate in numerous concerts including ‘Falling in Love with China Benoit STASIACZYK Jazz Music Concert’, ‘Blue Sky – Xinghai Jazz and Latin Special Concert’ and ‘12355 Pressure-reduced Special Concert’, which cause a favorable response.

Xinghai Modern Music Grand Orchestra aims at disseminating and developing jazz music. Ever since the conductor, Benoit STASIACZYK founded the group, he always encourages the music to create increasingly original works of excellence. For one thing, it accumulates the experience and techniques of playing and analyzing the works of traditional classic jazz bands; for the other thing, Benoit STASIACZYK and other young jazz composers created original works independently for the major music repertoire. The original works that Xinghai Modern Music Grand Orchestra has created and performed reached 30 plus until now. One of its original works Motion was selected to represent Modern Music Department of Xinghai Conservatory of Music to participate the 1st Guangdong Colleges Secondary and Primary Schools Instrumental Competition and won the 1st prize in the Professional Ensemble Group.

Xinghai Modern Music Grand Orchestra, a leading music group of jazz music in China, has won high reputation in the society and expects to contribute more to the jazz music in China in the future.
